A bit negative and I’ll sometimes talk about things having nothing to
do with GUIs, but hey, it’s better to write them here rather than just
yapping irl without giving argument because no one would want to talk
about that.
Disney+
- The homepage doesn’t show immediately stuff you’ve watched and would
like to continue. Instead it shows latest releases and you have to
scroll to find what you want. I know this is to catch my attention and
encourage users to see new consumables (hey, the service must enter its
fees), but it doesn’t work on me. Categories disturb me instead of
urging me to click, as you often find a movie or series inside multiple
categories.
- You can’t choose custom audio/subtitles for each series. As an
example, I watch Family Guy in English, and I prefer watching
Lie to me in French. But I have to change language everytime I
switch between them. On the other hand, the settings for subtitles and
changing their aspect is a nice plus.
- Ampersands are shown as
&. Same goes for Prime
Video.
- (off-topic) The High Potential
remake. Why. The original series ended last year.
Pokémon TCG
- Attack effects shouldn’t be applied when Pokémons are going to die
just after.
- Promo boosters shouldn’t keep the screen state showing the result of
opening since it is redundant here.
Netflix
- The whole “Looking for that movie? We don’t have it anymore”
appearing just after you were looking for something and Netflix
suggested it to you on purpose. It’s just annoying. Maybe it
would be better for Netflix to write regular news, they may explain them
on Twitter idk, it’s so temporary and people may ask again and again. It
would be so much better if Netflix posted to their website which series
they removed and why.
- Removal of Tenkai Knights series. It’s not really known and made for
children, but It’s just sad that it becomes slowly and slowly a lost
media. There still are images, excerpts and all, but some episodes have
really become lost medias, and I couldn’t find any extract from Tenkai
Knights’ generic in French, only in English.
UPDATE: I found one but it’s edited, since it’s an
ad for the mangas, but still a pleasure. You can find it here
(archive.org).
I’d be the worst guy ever if I didn’t make a save.
Crunchyroll
- When you’re looking for a series in a search engine, find the
Crunchyroll link and it tells you they don’t have it. They have the
cover, the users’ ratings, the plot, but not the episodes. It’s just a
reference problem, so each time a series is removed, svod services
should dereference them, without the need to erase every information
though, just keep them in a database.
- Unaccurate timecode for skipping intro (Disney+ also has it, but
less frequently).
Play Store
- Search button is at the bottom of the page and the search bar is
then at the top. Consistency is key.
- Books should just be in another app.
- The fact that you cannot install apps made for older Android
version. This happens to me when I wanted to replay Ninja Tobu. Hey
Google, if I want to install an app for an older version, you should let
me. If there really is a security concern, let this feature disabled by
default and allow users to toggle it inside settings. And if someone
really wants to they will onstall the app from another source. Honestly
I don’t trust many app stores.
Duckduckgo Browser
- You cannot switch between tabs easily by swiping at the search bar
to left or right.
- Fire button allows you to delete your history, but you can’t see
your history. So bookmarks are twice more important than they should
be.
- (positive) Overall the interface is
really neat.
- There are tracking and cookie pop-ups blockers, which are great, but
there is no ad blocker, which is a huge dealbreaker to me.
Reddit
- It prevents you from watching unreviewed content/subreddits and
forces you to use the app. I understand for nsfw content, but not here.
And you can bypass this warning (for both cases) by replacing
www by old on your current link. Here is an
example.
