This Wednesday I got a new monitor, and after years of 480p and unusual screen resolutions (hello you 1600x900), I can finally enjoy 1080p with 144Hz. But first you have to change the frequency in the settings of your operating system.
Here are my thoughts about what this does in a few games.
It’s beautiful, especially now that with 2.2 you can adjust your fps (even though I just use vsync). It also gives you an advantage over 60fps players, because for tight inputs you have more frame opportunities for tight inputs.
If you have Vsync enabled, the game goes WAY TOO FAST. It’s like watching a Youtube video at 2x speed.
The solution I found (thanks to this thread),
is to go to local files, open config.txt and set
WAIT_TIME_DELAY to 81.
When using my previous PC this game was running at like 30 fps, unless I enabled the 60 fps toggle. So I thought the game relied on delta time and not framerate.
Well that’s untrue, 60 fps toggle caps the framerate, but by default it depends on your monitor frequency.
What’s weird is that the framerate for the hidden room (where you beat the three bosses at the same time) is capped, maybe because the dev knew it would be harder otherwise.
All in all, with a slow device you have more time to think, but with a faster one you can kill the bosses faster.
Didn’t change anything.
